Pastor William R. (Bro Rick) Mitchell was called as Eternity Baptist Church Pastor July 18, 2021. He and his wife Rhonda have been married for forty-nine years as of June 2021 and God has blessed them with seven wonderful children. God has led them to many different places of service over the years. During their training years at Denver Baptist Bible College Rick served as music minister and youth minister, and Rhonda as pianist in a couple of churches in the Denver area. Rick has pastored for 40+ years, most of those as a bi-vocational pastor. Two of the churches were new churches that God allowed them to plant, one in Belen, New Mexico, and the other in Claremore, Oklahoma.
Rick's eleven years of active military duty and nine years in the reserves and National Guard have given them some invaluable experiences and taken them to different places where they have learned to love people from different backgrounds than their own. Through the military and the "Lord's Army" they have lived in New Mexico, North Carolina, Colorado, Montana, Oklahoma, and West Virginia.
All seven children are married and on their own. They are blessed with thirteen grandchildren presently. They praise God that all their married children are in church and serving the Lord.
Rhonda has retired from teaching in the public school system where she served for the last twenty-two years. She taught one year in a private Christian school, spent five years home-schooling the four oldest children, and then nineteen years in public education so they have seen the benefits and risks of all the educational choices for Christians.
Their philosophy of ministry is Acts 20:27, "For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God." They believe strongly in the importance of teaching Bible doctrine so that the saints will be equipped to live their Christian lives. They feel that the children's and youth ministries are a vital part of a church and should receive high priority when delegating time, money, and commitment.
