Our Deacons are active servant leaders whose role is to support the pastor and congregation as they seek to fulfill the church’s mission. A servant leader is one who sees the needs of people and sets out to meet some of those needs. Their task is to serve with the pastor and staff in performing the pastoral ministry tasks of:
- Leading the church in the achievement of its mission
- Proclaiming the gospel to believers and unbelievers
- Caring for church members and other people in the community
- Assisting the pastor with Church Ordinances
Deacon qualifications are set forth in the New Testament, especially 1Timothy 3:8-13 and Acts 6:1-7.
We currently have two Deacons who have been charged to:
- Serve!
- Defend the Faith--Stand Up! (Example: Stephen, Acts 7)
- Witness--Share the Faith! (Example: Philip, Acts 8)
- Set the Standard--Men of Integrity!
The congregation has been charged regarding Deacons to:
- Pray for Deacons
- Support the Deacons
- Encourage the Deacons
